(Typing) Keyboard Enthusiast Meetup

by Alex Ives | 11:15 – 12:05 in Louis Pasteur | View Schedule

Do you like typing? Chances are that if you're reading this, your job involves typing a great deal. If that's the case, you may have pretty strong feelings about your keyboard. Whether it's an old IBM model m, your Mac laptop keyboard, or a bespoke split you made yourself, this session is a place for you to come chat about why you like it with other people who have similarly strong feelings!

Last year it was pretty free form, just a bunch of people sitting around talking about keyboards. I thought that worked pretty well. A few of us brought in some of the more interesting things in our collections. I'd encourage people to do that again! Personally I'll probably bring in half a dozen different keyboards I've got lying around.

You should attend this session if:
  • You really like keyboards and you just want to talk about them to everybody!
  • You don't know anything about keyboards but want to want to know what the fuss is about
  • You have a cool new keyboard and you want to show it off so people think you're cool
  • You want a cool new keyboard and are trying to figure out what to get.

I'm a software engineer and software enthusiast! I'm also very into keyboards (the typing kind). I'm primarily a RoR/Jruby/Java person for a company called Granicus.

Currently I type on a keyboard I'm tentatively calling the MittensKB (the first version looked like a pair of mittens, though TBH it doesn't really anymore so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

You can learn more about me on my website.
