Lessons learned building LAIC: Life Time’s AI Concierge
by Peter Pascale | at Minnebar20
At Life Time, we set out to build something more ambitious than a support chatbot. LAIC — the Life Time AI Companion — is a concierge available to every member. It answers questions about clubs, classes, and programming, but it also does things: building custom workouts, drafting training programs, providing nutrition guidance, and scheduling classes on a member's behalf.
Getting to “cool demo” is easy with AI. Getting to something members rely on has required smart investment, experimentation, and tenacity in an environment where the tools and models you are using this month didn’t exist last month. This talk with cover our approach, and lessons learned for others to apply when building AI products.
We'll cover: Engaging the business in AI build-outs. How we get domain leaders to help shape the product. How AI is changing how we build product. New tools and models means figuring which are the best levers to the solution. We’ll cover what we’ve tried and what’s working. Which Model is Best? (Answer: all of them). Learn what we’ve learned about leveraging the ever changing landscape of LLM models.
If you're building an AI product inside an established company, come for the war stories, leave with ideas for your playbook.
