Sonic Pi

Sonic Pi is a live coding music creation and performance software. It allows people to learn how to code and how create music at the same time. It can be used by musicians from a beginner to professional level. More information on their website:

This talk is going to include basics on the software and reasons why you would want to use it to create music and use it as a live performance tool. My hope is to get people interested in playing around with the software and potentially build a local community of musicians to trade techniques, samples, and ideas.

  • Create your first tone
  • How to use notes, chords, and scales
  • Samples
  • Loops
  • Functions and Live Coding
  • Syncing
  • Effects (if there is extra time)
  • Live Demo
  • Q/A (I am by no means a professional with the software)
