Dirt, Data, and Distance: Lessons from Building Ag Tech in the Midwest

Precision agriculture combines on-field sensors, satellite imagery, and climate data to help growers understand and respond to changes in their crops and environments before problems show themselves. In the Midwest, a region defined by its agricultural roots, the technology to modernize these operations exist, but adoption has been slow.

In this talk, I'll share what I've learned building technology for both indoor and outdoor agriculture: what's working, what isn't, and where the real opportunities lie. From on-field connectivity solutions to emerging tools that are finally starting to close the gap between growers and the technology built to serve them.

About me: My name is Aditya and I've been out in the field, in greenhouses, and in nurseries throughout the last 4 years. With my background in computer engineering, my North Star is to simply make technology useful for those who bring so much value to us in the form of food, from the farm to the fork. I own a startup for pest management that eliminates Japanese Beetles, and run another project with the aim to use on-field sensor units to capture valuable data that farmers need.
