D.I.Y. DeepRacer
by Jacob Astar | at Minnebar 20
I first stumbled upon AWS's DeepRacer shortly after they announced the conclusion of the final competition and the subsequent deprecation of their hosted DeepRacer training services. I was still fascinated by the idea though so I set out to build my own self-driving RC car, with plans to expand the concept beyond simple miniature track racing.
In this 40 minute session, we're going to walk through what I've done so far, including how I designed the car itself and how I trained machine learning models to drive the car. There will be a heavy emphasis not just on what worked, but also what didn't. Through out the conversation, I'll also be covering what parts of the project can be done locally on your own hardware versus when you may want to spin up some cloud resources. Lastly, we'll talk about future state, as I plan to use the summer to take this project outside and race along real neighborhood paths and trails.
Please Note that this session is not endorsed by or affiliated with AWS or AWS DeepRacer. The term "DeepRacer" is used solely to reference the AWS competition and project type that inspired this work, not to imply any association with or endorsement by Amazon Web Services.
